Kalymnos on High Alert
Kalymnos is on heightened alert after the island was placed in Category 4, indicating a very high risk of wildfire, according to the daily fire-risk forecast for 14 and 15 August 2026.
In an official announcement, the Municipality of Kalymnos informs residents and visitors of the elevated danger and urges everyone to exercise extreme caution. People are asked to avoid any work or activity that could cause a fire or ignition, particularly in open and rural areas.
Heightened vigilance and responsible behaviour are essential, as even a small fire can quickly develop into a serious emergency.
Anyone who notices smoke or flames should immediately contact the Fire Service by calling 199 or the European emergency number 112.
As the Municipality stresses, protecting human life, property and the natural environment is a shared responsibility and a priority for everyone.
