ANE Kalymnou’s management has issued a strongly worded response to Dimitris Diakomichalis following the shareholders’ meeting on September 30, announcing a forthcoming public discussion on the municipal shipping company’s finances and future.
In a press release dated October 1, 2026, signed by board chairman Dimitris Maragkos, the company sets out its account of the confrontation at the meeting, Diakomichalis’s departure and the dispute over financial documentation.
According to management, this was the first time Diakomichalis and those accompanying him had attended a general meeting since April 2024, when the current municipal administration took over the company’s management.
The statement also describes an incident shortly before the meeting began. Management alleges that shareholder Ioannis Diamantis, who holds one share, addressed board member and former company chairman Stamatis Koutouzis in an insulting manner, prompting a response. It further accuses Diakomichalis of tolerating the conduct.
The central disagreement concerned access to the company’s financial documents. According to the press release, Diakomichalis requested that the meeting be postponed, saying he had not received the balance sheet and its accompanying notes signed by the accountant. He subsequently left the meeting. Management states that a majority of shareholders rejected the postponement request.
The company maintains that the required letter from the statutory auditors and the board’s report on its activities for 2024–2025 had been emailed to him. It says that the report also included the balance sheet for those years.
Management also criticises Diakomichalis’s recent press conference, saying he called for the company to be handed over to him, and questions which financial information informed that position.
ANE Kalymnou says the public discussion will take place either at a Municipal Council meeting or at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders, after the vessels “Nisos Kalymnos” and “Kalymnos Star 2” arrive on the island. The statement specifies that the latter has already been taken delivery of from the shipyard.
The release concludes by blaming the previous management for the company’s financial difficulties and its listing in the Tiresias credit information system, while promising to present the relevant information publicly. These allegations and assessments represent the current management’s position as expressed in its statement.
