An on-site inspection was carried out by the Building Department of the Municipality of Kalymnos on Wednesday, September 16, 2022, at 9:00 a.m., following a complaint regarding a dangerous structure located in the area of Agios Nikolaos.
The inspection was conducted by members of the Three-Member Committee for Dangerous and Dilapidated Buildings, established by decision of the Decentralized Administration of the Aegean. The committee consisted of civil engineers Mr. Michalis Zografakis, Ms. Evangelia Βilliri, and Ms. Sevasti Kokkinou.
The building in question, estimated to have been constructed around 1955, is abandoned and exhibits extensive deterioration, particularly on its northern and western balconies. The inspection revealed severe structural damage, including detached pieces of concrete and corroded reinforcements, with the northern balcony dangerously overhanging a municipal road.
The report states that the structure is uninhabitable and poses a significant public safety risk. It recommends that immediate measures be taken to prevent any accidents.
The official inspection report was also communicated to the Deputy Mayor and bears the protocol number from the Building Department, referencing the legal framework concerning dangerous structures.
