A public regular mixed session of the Municipal Council was held in the Municipal Hall both in person and via teleconference on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, starting at 18:00, to make decisions on the attached agenda items:
1. Approval of the Municipality of Kalymnos’ participation in the capital increase of the Public Company named “Kalymnos Polydrastiki S.A. Local Authority Company.”
It was unanimously approved to increase the capital of “Kalymnos Polydrastiki S.A. Local Authority Company” to purchase a 30-seat bus, aiming to eliminate bus rentals and save money.
2. Approval of the Municipality of Kalymnos’ participation in the capital increase of ” Kalymnos Maritime Co. S.A.”
The capital increase of “Kalymnos Maritme Co. S.A.” was approved to cover the construction costs of a new vessel, which will replace the Kalymnos Star, sunk after a fire in 2020 in the Small Cyclades.
The faction of Ioannis Galouzis voted “present.”
The faction of Georgios Mavros voted in favor.
The faction of Dimitris Diakomichalis voted against.
Former Mayor D. Diakomichalis proposed that the new vessel’s repayment be exceptionally financed by the Municipality of Kalymnos, but the proposal was rejected.
At the beginning of the session, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims of the Tempi tragedy.
