Tender Announcement for the Project “Electrification and Road Lighting of the Provincial Road Network of Kalymnos”
The South Aegean Region and the Kalymnos Regional Unit announce the tendering of one of the most important projects for upgrading road safety on the island of Kalymnos: the installation of road lighting along approximately 19 kilometres of the island’s provincial road network, with an estimated budget of €4,000,000.
This project is of particular importance for both road safety and the island’s overall energy upgrade.
The project concerns two main road axes:
• Pothia – Vathy, approximately 8.9 km
• Armeos – Emporios (Kastelli – Skalia – Emporios), approximately 10.1 km
The project includes the installation of a new road-lighting system using modern LED fixtures, as well as additional signage and safety interventions, aiming to:
• Improve road safety for residents and visitors
• Reduce energy consumption through an upgraded and efficient lighting system
• Enhance the functionality of the island’s key provincial routes, especially during night hours
• Protect human life by ensuring safer traffic conditions
The construction of the project is being tendered by the General Directorate of Infrastructure of the South Aegean Region and is funded through the Regional Development Programme 2021–2025, under the axis “Road Infrastructure.”
