The amendment providing for the gradual abolition of the personal difference for pensioners has been submitted within the draft bill of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, in which Dodecanese MP Mr. Konsolas will also speak.
The personal difference has, for years, prevented many pensioners from receiving pension increases, since any rise was offset against a large existing personal difference.
The implementation of the measure begins on 1 January 2026, and includes the following provisions:
• Pensioners whose personal difference reaches zero by 31 December 2025 will receive the full increase granted for 2026.
• Pensioners with a personal difference below 50% will receive the remaining amount of the increase corresponding to their personal difference, with a minimum increase equal to 50% of their total pension raise.
• Pensioners with a personal difference above 50% will receive 50% of their pension increase.
These transitional arrangements apply until 2027, as from 1 January 2027 the personal difference will be fully abolished and all pensioners will receive the full amount of any future pension increases.
