€34,000 Allegedly Paid for Journey from Turkey
Four foreign nationals—two men and two women—were located on Thursday morning, August 20, 2026, at Vathy Beach on the island of Pserimos, following a report received by the Kalymnos Port Authority.
A Hellenic Coast Guard patrol vessel was immediately dispatched to the area. The four individuals were picked up and safely transported to the port of Kalymnos.
According to their statements to the authorities, they had departed in a small boat from the coast of Bodrum, Turkey, on the evening of August 18, 2026.
They reportedly paid a total of €34,000 to a third party for their transportation to Greece. That person allegedly handed the boat over to them before leaving the area.
One of the four foreign nationals, an Iranian citizen, then took control of the vessel for the crossing.
The Kalymnos Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation into the case, while the boat used for the journey has been confiscated.
