MP for Dodecanese and PASOK’s Development Policy spokesperson, Giorgos Nikitiadis, delivered strong criticism in Parliament against the government and the Ministry of Development, accusing them of scandals and excessive use of direct awards in public contracts.
Speaking on the bill concerning public procurement and national quality policy, he highlighted that 72.7% of contracts in Greece are awarded without competitive procedures. He presented a PASOK amendment aiming to reduce the limits and scope of direct awards. Nikitiadis denounced “tailor-made” provisions favoring specific foreign companies and criticized rushed legal deadlines. He also noted delays in implementing EU Recovery Fund obligations.
Defending PASOK’s reform legacy, he launched ideological attacks on New Democracy and warned against institutional discredit and public cynicism.
