Global Climbing Initiative Opens Community Grants to Support Local Climbing Projects Worldwide
The Global Climbing Initiative (GCI) has launched applications for its Community Grants program, offering flexible funding to locally led climbing organizations around the world to support sustainable, community-driven projects.
The grants are designed to strengthen access to climbing, protect outdoor environments, expand opportunities, and build long-term resilience within climbing communities. The initiative focuses on projects developed by local organizations that understand and respond to the unique needs of their communities.
Priority is given to initiatives addressing inequality and locally identified challenges, particularly those led by organizations with limited resources and by individuals or groups historically underrepresented in the climbing community.
Funding is available across three main categories:
- Environmental Grants
- Social Impact Grants
- Economic Development Grants
For the Fall 2026 funding cycle, initial applications are open until July 24, 2026, with selected projects scheduled to run from October 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027.
