Today, the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, visited Kalymnos General Hospital to personally inspect the progress of the renovation works at the Emergency Department. He also met with the Deputy Regional Governor, Mr. M. Mousellis, and the Mayor, Mr. I. Mastrokoukos.
Regarding the issue of the hospital’s new administrator, the Minister stated that the replacement of Mr. Nikolaos Faniou as Director of Kalymnos Hospital will be announced within 2–3 weeks.
He also announced that Mr. Michalis Sokorelos, orthopedic surgeon and Deputy Director of Rhodes General Hospital, will regularly perform surgeries on the island to spare local patients the burden of traveling elsewhere.
At the hospital’s entrance, Kalymnos Hospital staff held a protest, during which their demands were read out as they awaited the Minister’s arrival.
