Starting August 5, 2025, olive fruit fly spraying (dakoktonia) will begin, weather permitting. The process will take approximately eight days and will be postponed on days with extreme heat, strong winds, or rain. Farmers should leave fenced properties open and may be present during spraying.
Beekeepers and livestock owners are advised to remove hives and animals from treated areas to avoid poisoning. Organic olive growers should mark their groves with red tape to prevent unintended spraying. Municipalities are requested to disseminate this information to the public.
