An important development for the preservation and utilization of Kalymnos’ cultural and architectural heritage is the decision of the Administrative Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) to accept the concession of the historic “Carabinieri Barracks” building.
On the occasion of this decision (Ref. No. TYODPE/410/23-3-2026), a press conference will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 17:00, at the Chamber of Commerce Hall (EBED Kalymnos).
During the press conference, the TEE’s plan will be presented regarding the funding of studies and the full restoration works of the landmark building, which is set to be transformed into a modern collaborative hub named the “Engineers’ Hub”.
The briefing will be delivered by the Secretary General of TEE, Antonis Giannikouris, who will outline the vision and prospects for the building’s redevelopment, aiming to create a vibrant center of innovation, collaboration, and professional activity for the local community.
This initiative is expected to significantly contribute both to the preservation of a historic monument and to the strengthening of the island’s development prospects.
