With planning and action, the Regional Unit of Kalymnos promptly responds to the concerns of the residents of Skalia. Last February, during the New Year’s celebration in the village square, locals voiced their worries about road safety and the recurring landslide risks in the area.
Just three months later, metal safety barriers have been installed at the hazardous point, significantly improving road safety for both residents and visitors.
At the same time, a site inspection and technical evaluation of the landslide issues is underway, as part of the implementation of the project:
“Study for the reduction of landslide risk on the slopes of the provincial road Arginonta – Skalia, Kalymnos”, with a total budget of €31,310.10. A specialized technical team from the contractor is already on the island.
The Regional Unit of Kalymnos proves once again that it doesn’t rely on promises. It listens, plans, and acts for the safety and well-being of its communities.
