The installation of the first reward-based recycling kiosks has begun on the island, as part of the Municipality of Kalymnos’ initiative to improve environmental management and increase local recycling rates. The specialized machines accept plastic, metal, and glass containers, offering citizens rewards for each item properly recycled.
According to the Municipality, the kiosks are being placed in strategic locations to ensure easy access for residents and to encourage daily participation. The systems feature automatic recognition and sorting technology, ensuring high-quality separation of recyclable materials.
Local authorities note that the new reward-based recycling network represents an important step in reducing waste that ends up in the environment, while also promoting a culture of responsibility and active civic engagement. The kiosks are expected to be fully operational in the coming days.
