Every year in March the world of international tourism gathers at the largest travel trade show, ITB Berlin. The Municipality of Kalymnos was represented at the TBI tourism exhibition in Berlin by Deputy Mayor of Tourism Mrs. Kalliopi Koutouzi Vogelzang.
Our Municipality was hosted at the tourism stand of the South Aegean Region. Greece, specifically the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT), was among the main exhibitors in Berlin.
Mrs. K. Koutouzi had discussions with tourist organizations such as TUI and JET2 for organized tourism on our island, as well as with travel agencies specializing in alternative forms of tourism.
During the Deputy Mayor’s visit to Berlin, she also had the opportunity to meet with a representative of the airline Sky Express to discuss the issues we face on the island regarding our inadequate connection to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport and the increase in flight schedules.
She also met with a representative of Airbnb to discuss organizing a training seminar not only for the owners of accommodations on that specific platform but also for the staff of other types of accommodations, aiming to improve the services provided to tourists.
She was interviewed by the Greek-speaking section of Deutsche Welle. She informed the representative of Der Spiegel, one of the largest media companies with newspapers, magazines, and websites, about the island of Kalymnos.
The Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and the General Secretary of the EOT, Dim. Fragakis attended the exhibition and showed particular interest in our island and its unique characteristics.
