New Open Consultation Announced
The Municipal Port Fund of Kalymnos is inviting local professionals and relevant authorities to a new open consultation on the future development of marine tourism on the island.
The meeting will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber of Kalymnos Town Hall.
Participants will be presented with the findings from the first phase of the Municipal Port Fund’s agreement with consulting company Boats Advisor Hub & Events, focusing on the development of marine tourism. The initiative follows an earlier consultation held on May 23, 2026.
The process aims to develop proposals and practical guidelines for improving port infrastructure and procedures, managing berthing spaces more efficiently and providing better services for recreational vessels, day-trip boats and cruise ships.
Discussions will also cover diving activities, the promotion of port facilities and services, and closer cooperation with other competent authorities.
Travel and shipping agents, owners of commercial recreational vessels and day-trip boats, marine tourism professionals, shopkeepers and restaurant operators in the port area of Pothia, fishermen and port technical staff have been invited to attend. Representatives of the Kalymnos Port Authority, Customs Office and Police Department, along with members of the Municipal Port Fund’s Board of Directors, are also expected to participate.
Municipal Port Fund President Michail Platsis stressed that broad participation is particularly important, as the experience and proposals of those working in and around the port can make a valuable contribution to planning the next steps for marine tourism in Kalymnos.
