Kalymnos highlights its gastronomic identity through experiential training for hospitality professionals
A significant experiential gastronomic training initiative titled “Flavours of Kalymnos: Place, Memory, Taste” is taking place on the island from March 10 to March 12, showcasing the culinary identity of Kalymnos.
The initiative is organized by INSETE and Gastronomy Essentials, with the participation of Kalymnian chef Michalis Martha, and is held under the auspices of the Municipality of Kalymnos.
The event is coordinated on behalf of the municipality by Deputy Mayor for Tourism Kalliopi Koutouzi, under the supervision of Mayor of Kalymnos Giannis Mastrokoukos.
The initiative forms part of the municipality’s broader strategy to promote local gastronomy and local products as key elements of the island’s identity and as important drivers of tourism development.
A special dimension of the program is the involvement of the distinguished chef Michalis Martha, who originates from Kalymnos. His participation adds symbolic value to the initiative, as knowledge and professional experience return to his homeland, contributing to the promotion and evolution of the island’s culinary heritage.
The program brings together 16 hospitality professionals from various regions of Greece, offering them the opportunity to experience the gastronomic culture of Kalymnos through activities that connect local production, the sea, and the island’s cultural traditions.
The initiative further strengthens the municipality’s strategy to promote Kalymnos as an authentic destination where local production, history, and contemporary Greek cuisine combine to offer visitors a complete culinary experience.
