A total of €612,166.47 is being paid to eligible residents of Kalymnos for journeys made during the second half of 2025 under Greece’s Transport Equivalent Scheme.
According to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, payments of the Island Cost Compensation are progressing smoothly. They cover both ferry and air journeys undertaken between July 1 and December 31, 2025.
Kalymnos ranks eighth among the South Aegean islands in terms of the amount allocated, following Rhodes, Syros, Kos, Paros, Santorini, Naxos and Mykonos.
The South Aegean receives the largest regional share of the nationwide payment, amounting to €14,970,084.49. Across Greece, more than €23.2 million is being distributed to over 281,000 island residents.
Among the amounts allocated to Dodecanese islands are:
- Rhodes: €2,417,988.23
- Kos: €1,390,191.99
- Kalymnos: €612,166.47
- Leros: €368,744.57
- Patmos: €210,585.31
- Karpathos: €174,433.90
- Symi: €116,448.57
- Astypalaia: €83,650.26
This payment completes the settlement of Passenger Transport Equivalent claims for the whole of 2025.
The Ministry also stated that more than €60 million has already been distributed during 2026 to support island residents, island-based businesses and the cost of transporting fuel.
