Kalymnos to Celebrate Greek Independence Day – Official Program Announced
Kalymnos will once again commemorate the Greek Independence Day of March 25, 1821, with a series of events organized by the Regional Unit of Kalymnos .
Celebrations will begin on March 23 with flag decorations and illumination of public and private buildings, culminating on March 24 and 25, 2026.
Events on March 24
- 11:00 – School events across primary and secondary education
- 12:00 – Wreath-laying ceremony at the central square memorial by students and local organizations
Events on March 25
- 11:30 – Assembly of parade groups
- 11:45 – Memorial service and official address
- 12:15 – Student and military parade featuring schools, cultural groups, scouts, and armed forces units
- 18:30 – Official flag lowering ceremony
- 19:00 – Cultural event by the “Ai Mousai” Cultural Association, including a speech and musical performance
The celebrations will take place with the participation of local authorities, institutions, and citizens, honoring Greece’s historical legacy and national independence.
The master of ceremonies has been appointed as Mr. Vasileios Diakomichalis, with local bodies and services supporting the organization of the events
