The Municipality of Kalymnos will honour the island’s athletes who distinguished themselves in official competitions during the 2025–2026 sporting season, at a special ceremony celebrating their commitment, perseverance and achievements.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., at the Kalymnos Centre of Culture and History.
The initiative, organised by the Municipality’s Sports Department, aims not only to recognise the athletes whose performances have brought distinction to Kalymnos, but also to encourage the island’s younger generation to become actively involved in sport.
The awards will recognise male and female athletes, including athletes with disabilities, who achieved notable results between September 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026, in officially recognised Olympic sports.
According to the municipal announcement, only achievements in official federation championships will be considered. Results from independent tournaments or one-day sporting events will not be eligible.
Athletes finishing in first, second or third place will be honoured in individual and team events at the Dodecanese Championships, the Aegean Athletics Games, the Pan-Regional Swimming Championships, the final stages of national competitions and the Balkan Championships.
Competitors who placed between first and sixth at the Mediterranean Games, as well as those finishing between first and eighth at European Championships and World Games, will also receive awards.
Sports clubs had been asked to submit details of their athletes’ achievements to the Municipal Sports Office by July 20.
