Major dialysis equipment donation to Kalymnos Hospital by AHMCI and benefactor Giannis Halikos
A significant donation of medical equipment has strengthened the Artificial Kidney Unit of the General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos “Vouvaleio”. The hospital received six dialysis machines and five dialysis chairs, with a total value of €82,806, donated by the Australian Hellenic Medical Charitable Institution (AHMCI) and the late great benefactor of the foundation, Giannis Halikos.
According to the hospital’s Board of Directors, the donation substantially enhances the capabilities of the Artificial Kidney Unit and contributes to the further improvement of healthcare services provided to patients on the island of Kalymnos and the surrounding area.
The new equipment is expected to improve the quality of treatment and ensure better service for patients undergoing dialysis, while also strengthening the operational capacity of the unit.
The Board of Directors and the hospital staff expressed their sincere gratitude to the donors for this important act of social responsibility and support for the public healthcare system.
At the same time, they expressed deep sorrow for the sudden loss of Kalymnos’ great benefactor, Giannis Halikos, noting that his memory will remain alive through the significant contribution he left to the island.
