Students from Kalymnos achieved significant distinctions at today’s Dodecanese Cross Country Championship for junior high schools, held in Rhodes, securing first and second place in the 2 km race.
Kalliopi Chalkiti, representing Nikiforeio 1st Junior High School of Kalymnos and coached by Nikolas Korfias, won the gold medal and was crowned Dodecanese champion. She also qualified for the national final, which will take place on Sunday in Ancient Olympia.
Second place and the silver medal were claimed by Eleni Solanaki, also from Nikiforeio 1st Junior High School and under the same coach, highlighting the team’s strong performance.
Notable performances were also delivered by Ioannis Tsirou (1st Junior High School of Kalymnos) and Georgios Sakalleros (3rd Junior High School of Kalymnos), who both competed impressively.
Special recognition is given to Physical Education teacher Drosos Charamantas for his support, guidance, and supervision throughout the event.
