Manos Konsolas Proposes New Lending Criteria for Island Residents under the “My Home II” Program
In a targeted parliamentary intervention, Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas submitted a proposal to the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Ms. Domna Michailidou, aiming to adapt the “My Home II” housing program to the specific needs of Greece’s island communities.
Mr. Konsolas presented a three-point proposal to modify the eligibility criteria for island residents:
- Increase the program’s budget and extend the application deadline.
- Expand income criteria specifically for residents of the islands.
- Revise the property age requirement and the mandatory purchase rule, suggesting an alternative: allow young islanders who own land to receive loans covering up to 90% of construction costs.
The MP noted that this request has also been supported by the mayors of several islands, including Kastellorizo, Symi, Tilos, Chalki, and Kasos.
It is worth noting that the “My Home II” program provides low-interest housing loans covering up to 90% of the purchase value of a first home.
