Second Place in Thessaloniki and Ready for the Greek Championships!
Maria Magkoulia delivered another outstanding shot-put performance, securing second place at the international “Kostas Spanidis” meeting in Thessaloniki.
The Kalymnian champion recorded an impressive throw of 16.88 metres, the second-best mark of her career, confirming that she is in excellent form just days before the Greek Senior Athletics Championships.
Coached by Giannis Barlis, Magkoulia finished only seven centimetres behind Polish winner Zuzanna Maślana. Her throw was also just 12 centimetres short of her personal best.
The result confirms the high level at which the Kalymnian athlete is currently competing, as she continues to represent her island with distinction at major athletics events.
Her next major challenge will be the Greek Men’s and Women’s Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in Volos on 25 and 26 July 2026.
With confidence high and an excellent result behind her, Maria Magkoulia now heads to the national championships with the support and best wishes of Kalymnos!
