Thirty years after the events at Imia, our country bows with respect and deep emotion to the memory of its heroes.
In Kalymnos—a border island, an island of responsibility and historical memory—the Day of Remembrance of Imia carries a special and profoundly symbolic meaning. It is our duty to remember and honor those who fell defending Greece’s national sovereignty and dignity.
We pay tribute to the officers of the Hellenic Navy who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Their sacrifice stands as a beacon of honor, responsibility, and national conscience for today’s generation and those to come.
The memory of Imia does not fade with time. It remains alive, as a lasting reminder of unity, vigilance, and love for our homeland. For us in the border islands of the Dodecanese, it is an integral part of our collective identity.
We honor the heroes. We do not forget. We stand with national dignity and heartfelt emotion before History.
May their memory be eternal.
