As Metropolitan of Leros, Kalymnos and Astypalaia, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Municipality of Kos, and especially to the President of the Municipal Port Committee, Mr. Kostas Chondros, for the installation of an air-conditioned passenger waiting hall at the Port of Mastichari.
For many years—indeed, for the past twenty years—I have repeatedly voiced my dissatisfaction that no proper and dignified space had been secured for the waiting of travelers: both the residents of Kalymnos and Leros who commute regularly, and also the visitors to our islands of Kalymnos and Leros, whether during the winter months or in the summer season. This is particularly important for the service of climbers traveling to Kalymnos and from Kalymnos via Mastichari to their various destinations.
I believe that the installation of this hall, together with its proper equipment, will greatly contribute to more humane and comfortable conditions for all who pass through the Port of Mastichari.
