19,200 Points and a Dream Fulfilled –Medical School Success
A remarkable academic achievement has brought pride to the Dodecanese as Michaela Kasti, whose family roots are in Kalymnos and Leros, earned 19,200 points in Greece’s 2026 National University Entrance Examinations, securing her place at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), her first-choice university.
The 18-year-old graduate of the First Arsakeio General High School of Psychiko excelled in the Science and Health Studies track, confirming a long-standing record of academic excellence combined with outstanding social contribution.
On her mother’s side, Michaela descends from the Anapliotis family of Kalymnos. She is the granddaughter of Merchant Navy Captain Michalis Anapliotis and Eleni Olympiti, while her mother is pulmonologist Dr. Katerina Anaplioti. On her father’s side, she has roots in Leros, where her father, George Kasti, serves as Director of Research at the Academy of Athens.
Her examination scores were outstanding:
- Biology: 19.8
- Chemistry: 19.8
- Physics: 19.0
- Modern Greek Language and Literature: 18.2
Her latest success follows years of exceptional performance. Last year she graduated with an impressive 19.9 GPA, receiving the Academic Excellence Award, the First Prize for Outstanding Achievement, and the Special Award for Ethics and Solidarity in recognition of her contribution to the school community.
She also served as the school’s flag bearer during the 28 October 2025 national parade in Athens, has earned distinctions in painting and music competitions, and has actively participated in numerous volunteer and community service initiatives.
Her graduation ceremony, marking the completion of thirteen years of education at the Arsakeio Schools, took place on 25 June 2026 in the presence of the schools’ President, Professor George Babiniotis.
Michaela Kasti’s achievement is an inspiring example of how academic excellence, dedication, and social responsibility can go hand in hand, making her a source of pride for both Kalymnos and Leros, as well as for the entire Dodecanese.
