Parliamentary intervention calls for improved inter-island transport links.
The need to operate a morning ferry route connecting Kalymnos with Mastichari on Kos, and vice versa, is highlighted in a parliamentary intervention addressed to the Ministry of Shipping by Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas. As noted, there is expressed interest from ferry companies, alongside documented needs of residents who must travel for administrative, professional, and personal reasons. The proposed route would enhance inter-island connectivity, facilitate daily mobility, and improve access from Kalymnos to the International Airport of Kos. It is also expected to contribute positively to tourism and local economic activity.
However, despite the interest shown by shipping companies, the request cannot be submitted for discussion to the Coastal Shipping Council, as the relevant deadline has passed. Mr. Konsolas calls on the Minister to assess the situation and take the necessary initiative to address the issue.
