The second phase of the free compost bin distribution program began today, following strong demand from citizens during the first phase. The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen environmental awareness and promote sustainable waste management.
A total of 1,250 compost bins (both mechanical and garden types) will be distributed to eligible applicants who have already submitted their requests through the dedicated online platform: https://wastefreeaegean.gr/biowaste/.
The collection took place from 09:00 to 17:00 at the fountain area opposite the Town Hall. Citizens also had the opportunity to submit applications on-site, subject to availability. Specialized staff were present to assist the public and demonstrate how to properly use the compost bins. Distribution will continue on Saturday and Sunday for those who were unable to attend today.
The initiative is part of the broader household composting program of the South Aegean Solid Waste Management Authority (FoDSA) and forms a key component of the Municipal Authority’s strategy for a “Green Kalymnos” and modern waste management.
