Pilgrimage trip of Saint Nicholas Parish of Kalymnos to Evia, Meteora and Thessaloniki
The Parish of Saint Nicholas of Kalymnos, patron saint of the island, organized a pilgrimage trip to major religious destinations in Greece, under the guidance of parish priest Fr. Konstantinos Smalios.
A large group of pilgrims is participating in the journey, which is also accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Paisios of Kalymnos. The itinerary includes visits to significant pilgrimage sites such as Saint John the Russian in Evia, Meteora, and the tomb of Saint Paisios the Athonite in Thessaloniki.
According to initial updates and photos shared by the participants, on Monday, April 20, 2026, the pilgrims visited Saint David the Elder in Evia and the tomb of Saint Iakovos Tsalikis. An evening service (Vespers) was held at the Church of Saint John the Russian by Fr. Smalios, followed by a tour of the church museum and accommodation at the church guesthouse.
On Tuesday morning, April 21, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated at Saint John the Russian, with the next stop of the pilgrimage being Kalambaka and Meteora.
The pilgrimage is described as a meaningful spiritual experience, strengthening faith and unity among members of the local church community.
