On September 23, 2025, the Head of Kalymnos Regional Unit, Manolis Mousellis, held a press conference highlighting development projects for the island, with a total budget of €4,723,800, now included in the South Aegean Region’s Technical Program. The projects include road lighting, safety barriers, dam maintenance, a structural study of the Metropolitan Church, building restorations, and road works. Additional funding was announced for school equipment and small islands, along with a €2 million road maintenance program.
Mousellis emphasized that such projects require months of preparation and defended the work of the Regional Authority against political criticism, also addressing questions related to an open letter by Michalis Boukis. He concluded with a message of continued support for the Regional Authority’s efforts to upgrade and develop Kalymnos.
