A letter addressed to the Mayor of Kalymnos, Mr. Ioannis Mastrokoukos, was submitted by Mr. Dimitris Diakomichalis, head of the municipal faction “Kalymnos – Power of Perspective” and Municipal Councilor, regarding actions to honor the memory of the late Skevos Zervos.
In the letter, dated February 27, 2026, and copied to the media, it is noted that no annual memorial service has been officially established over time in honor of the distinguished Kalymnian scientist and prominent figure of the island.
Mr. Diakomichalis acknowledges that this omission concerns all municipal administrations, including his own tenure, and proposes that it be rectified through the establishment of an annual memorial service.
Furthermore, he suggests that the Municipal Council adopt a decision to organize a two-day series of events every two years in honor of Skevos Zervos. The aim, as stated, is to highlight his contribution both to science and to the Union of the Dodecanese with Greece, particularly for the awareness and education of younger generations.
The proposal has been submitted to the municipal authorities for consideration and further action.
