Kalymnos Medical Association Calls for Amendment to Municipal Decision on Doctors’ Housing Support
The Medical Association of the Kalymnos District (I.S.E.K.) has sent an urgent letter to the Mayor and the Municipal Council of Kalymnians, with copies forwarded to the Members of Parliament of the Dodecanese, association members, and the media.
In its letter, the Association welcomes Municipal Council Decision No. 29/2026, which provides financial support of €600 for accommodation expenses of appointed doctors serving on the island of Kalymnos for the year 2026.
However, the Association notes that the decision specifically refers to “appointed auxiliary doctors,” suggesting that this wording may have been included inadvertently. According to the Association, the measure should apply to all doctors serving at Kalymnos Hospital who do not own a private family residence on the island, to be verified through a formal declaration.
The Medical Association requests a revised wording of the decision to ensure equal treatment of all eligible doctors.
The letter is signed by the President of I.S.E.K., Mr. Gerasimos Apostolatos, and the General Secretary, Mr. Michail Mavros.
