On March 9, 2026, the Dodecanese Public Property Service will hold a public electronic auction for the concession of simple use rights of seashores and beaches across seven municipalities in the region. The tender αφορά a total of 230 beaches, including 68 in Rhodes and 127 in Kos, as well as locations in Leros, Karpathos, Kalymnos, Astypalaia and Patmos. The leases will be granted for a three-year period and mainly concern umbrellas and mobile canteens.
The auction process for most locations will take place from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m., while for Astypalaia and Patmos it will run from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. In Rhodes, the lowest starting bid is set at €708.75 (Apolakkia beach), while the highest reaches €33,075 for two locations in Pefkos. The strongest interest is expected in high-tourism areas such as Lindos, Faliraki and southern Rhodes.
Based solely on the starting prices, state revenue from Rhodes alone is estimated at a minimum of €704,744 for the three-year period. In prime tourist areas, intense competition is expected to significantly increase final lease prices. Overall revenues from the Dodecanese beach concessions are projected to reach several million euros, although municipalities will not receive a share of the income despite being responsible for the maintenance of the beaches.
