EODY Team to Screen Refugee Population
Concerns over possible tuberculosis cases at the Closed Controlled Structure (CCS) of Leros have eased following official confirmation that the three suspected cases under investigation have tested negative.
According to the Provincial Medical Association of Kalymnos “Skevos Zervos”, the development follows a direct intervention made by the Association to the President and Board of Directors of the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
As a result, a specialized EODY medical team will be deployed to the Leros refugee facility to conduct health screenings among all residents. The initiative aims to ensure public health protection and prevent any potential spread of infectious diseases.
The Association noted that it remains committed to safeguarding local residents, visitors, refugees, as well as medical and nursing personnel, while closely monitoring the situation.
The negative test results have brought reassurance to the local community, while highlighting the importance of rapid response and preventive public health measures in managing potential health threats.
