A Special Evening of Violin and Piano Music
An evening dedicated to classical music was held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Kalymnos Centre for Culture and History, as part of the Municipality of Kalymnos’ summer cultural programme.
Entitled “Summer Nights – An Evening of Classical Shades for Violin and Piano,” the event was organised by the Kantouni–Linaria Environmental and Cultural Association.
The featured performers were violinist Tania Sikelianou and pianist Eirini Gkovatsou. They were joined by violinist Antonis Alahouzos and pianists Ioanna Argyriou, Maria Psarompa and Nomiki Psarompa. Niki Reisi presented the program, and Kalliope Kampourakis was responsible for the stage design.
The programme included works by some of the most celebrated composers in classical music. Among the pieces performed were Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 5, known as the “Spring Sonata,” and the famous “Für Elise,” Antonín Dvořák’s “Humoresque,” Edward Elgar’s “Salut d’Amour,” works by Frédéric Chopin, Isaac Albéniz’s “Asturias,” Joseph Haydn’s Piano Sonata No. 62, Francisco Tárrega’s “Recuerdos de la Alhambra,” Jules Massenet’s “Thaïs,” as well as Spanish dances by Moritz Moszkowski and Manuel de Falla.
“Summer Nights” added a distinctive classical touch to Kalymnos’ cultural calendar, while also highlighting the creative contribution of the island’s cultural organisations and musicians.
