Swearing-in of the New Director of the “Vouvalio” General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos
On Friday, September 5, 2025, the swearing-in ceremony of the new Director of the “Vouvalio” General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos, Mr. Pantelis Kongas, took place at the headquarters of the 2nd Regional Health Authority of Piraeus & the Aegean, before the Governor of the 2nd RHA, Mr. Christos Roilos.
The Kalymnos Hospital Board of Directors was represented at the ceremony by its Vice President, Mrs. Kalliopi Koutouzi.
The new Director has already been briefed on the current situation at Kalymnos Hospital, and in the coming days will hold successive meetings with the administration, as well as with the medical, nursing, administrative, and other staff, in order to gain a comprehensive picture of the needs and challenges of the health facility, while setting the immediate priorities of the new administration.
Mr. Pantelis Kongas was born in Thessaloniki in 1971 and is a retired Major General of the Hellenic Army, coming from the Artillery branch. He entered the Hellenic Army Academy in 1988 and graduated in 1992. Over his 37-year military career, he served in field units in Evros and the Eastern Aegean islands, holding both command and staff positions. He has also served in units on Kos and Rhodes and has attended all required Army schools and training programs, gaining significant experience in leadership, management, and the organization of demanding structures. In addition, he is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, further enhancing his broad expertise.
The Board of Directors extends its warmest wishes to the new Director, Mr. Pantelis Kongas, for a productive and successful term, for the benefit of the residents and visitors of our island, with a focus on upgrading the healthcare services provided and supporting the hospital staff.
It also expresses its deepest gratitude to the former Director, Mr. Nikolaos Fanios, now Director of the Hospital of Kos, for his contribution to the institution. Since assuming his duties in 2022, he demonstrated dedication and made a significant contribution to the development and smooth operation of the hospital.
