The Greek Parliament overwhelmingly approved the Finance Ministry’s bill “Tax Reform for Demographics and the Middle Class.” Of its 47 articles, 37 received over 200 votes, with several surpassing 250.
The reform introduces tax relief measures for families and young people, reduces imputed income criteria, applies a new 25% tax rate on rental income, and includes regional support such as abolishing property tax (ENFIA) in small villages and cutting VAT by 30% on islands.
It also raises salaries for police, coast guard, and firefighters. The bill passed in principle with 160 votes, exceeding the ruling party’s strength, signaling broad parliamentary backing.
