In Panormos, underground cable installation works are currently underway, carried out by an external contractor on behalf of HEDNO (Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator)-DEDDIE. The works aim to improve the electricity supply in the area.
The workers expressed their disappointment over the public’s reaction to these projects, particularly the criticism voiced on social media. They noted that such works are welcomed positively in other islands, whereas on Kalymnos, they are met with frustration and resentment.
When asked why the work was not carried out during the winter, the workers responded that they do indeed work through the winter season; however, it was not feasible to implement these specific projects during the previous winter without providing further details.
