Waste management works launched to address the garbage problem in Kalymnos were temporarily halted after a complaint led to police intervention, according to a press release issued by the Municipality of Kalymnos.
The statement noted that the works had been progressing smoothly before police arrived on site, resulting in a temporary suspension of the operations.
The Municipality expressed strong frustration over the incident, stressing that “Kalymnos cannot endure further stagnation” and calling for an end to the “toxicity” that, according to the statement, is preventing the island from moving forward.
“Let the island breathe. Let the island move forward,” the announcement concluded.
