Participation of the Traditional Folklore Dance Association of Kalymnos “HOROGENESIS” in the 1st Alasarniotes Gathering in Kardamaina, May 9–11, 2025
The Traditional Folklore Dance Association of Kalymnos “HOROGENESIS” participated with great success in a cultural event held along the coastal area of Kardamaina.
Our presentation began with traditional distichs accompanied by the Kalymnian tsampouna (bagpipe), offering attendees a unique musical experience with lyrics composed by our Association. Our entrance was marked by a song dedicated to the event, capturing the rhythm and our love for tradition.
This was followed by the presentation of dances from Kalymnos and other areas of the Aegean, including:
- Dirlada
- Issos
- Sousta
- Thymairiotikos
- Michanikos
Our performance concluded with a tsampouna-accompanied Sousta, creating a vibrant and authentic traditional atmosphere.
The organizers warmly thanked our Association and presented us with a commemorative gift as a token of appreciation for our participation and contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage. On our part, we expressed our gratitude for the hospitality and wished: “See you next year, in good health!”
Who We Are:
The “HOROGENESIS” Association was founded in 2022, yet our dance activity spans over 20 years of dynamic presence, with participation in numerous events both on and off the island of Kalymnos, including theatrical performances that highlight local tradition and folklore.
The Association owns a private costume collection with traditional outfits from all over Greece.
Vision and Purpose:
Our core mission is to preserve and pass on our cultural heritage, customs, and traditions of Kalymnos and Greece in general, aiming to transmit them to younger generations.
We firmly believe it is our duty to preserve our national identity and awaken national consciousness.
