The President of the Environmental Education and Awareness Association of Kalymnos Island (YDNA), Vasilis Kalogerakis, and Vice President Savvina Karavokyrou, held a press conference on January 16, 2026, on the upcoming programme of educational, training and participatory actions to be implemented on the island. A three-day programme of educational, training and participatory activities focusing on zero waste and tackling climate change will take place on Kalymnos from January 22 to 24, 2026.
Titled “From the line to the circle for zero waste, addressing Climate Change”, the initiative includes:
- Thursday, Jan 22: Two-hour activities in nine (9) schools and teacher training at the Cultural and History Centre, 6:30–8:30 pm.
- Friday, Jan 23: Two-hour activities in nine (9) schools and information sessions for residents and local stakeholders at the Cultural and History Centre, 6:30–8:30 pm.
- Saturday, Jan 24: Beach clean-up and artistic activities at Kasonia (Pothia), 9:30–11:30 am.
The programme aims to raise awareness and actively engage the local community in circular economy practices and sustainable waste management, supported by educational and environmental organisations.
