“Growing Up and Changing – What’s Happening to Me?”: Educational Initiative by Our Hospital at the 3rd Primary School of Kalymnos as Part of the National Health Education Programs
Adolescence is a beautiful stage of life filled with changes, questions, and new emotions. With the aim of supporting young people with care, compassion, and scientific responsibility during this important transition, the Office of Prevention & Health Promotion, in collaboration with the Family Planning Unit of the General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos “Vouvaleio”, is organizing a targeted educational activity on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the 3rd Primary School of Kalymnos Town.
This important educational intervention is implemented within the framework of the approved awareness-raising and information activities for the student population under the National Health Education Programs of the Ministry of Health for the 2025–2026 school year. It falls under the official thematic axis: “Sexual and Reproductive Health”.
Through the specially designed thematic sections of the program “Growing Up and Changing – What’s Happening to Me?”, sixth-grade students will have the opportunity to better understand the natural physical changes of puberty, learn about the importance of daily personal hygiene, and embrace their new emotions, discovering that each person is different — and therefore unique.
This educational initiative will be carried out by the following healthcare professionals:
On behalf of the Office of Prevention & Health Promotion:
Niki Georgakopoulou, Registered Nurse (University Education), MSc, SCPHN, PgDip(Ed)
On behalf of the Family Planning Unit:
Themelina Vrettou, Midwife (Technological Education)
The Administration of the General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos “Vouvaleio” supports the implementation of all Health Education activities in the schools of our island, recognizing that honest and scientifically documented information for students contributes significantly to their empowerment and to the promotion of their overall health and well-being.
We warmly thank the School Administration, the Parents and Guardians Association, and the teachers of the 3rd Primary School of Kalymnos Town for their trust and excellent cooperation.
