Dimitris Diakomichalis raises questions over a €174,500 minibus purchase and challenges councillor Stamatis Koutouzis over remarks about a road towards Agios Savvas.
The municipal group “Kalymnos Dynami Prooptikis”, led by Dimitris Diakomichalis, has opened two new fronts in local political debate through letters dated 4 November 2026, while the opposition party was unjustifiably absent during the municipal council session on November 2nd, 2026 regarding the restoration of the waste dump at Giannochorafa and the acquisition of the land
The interventions shift part of the debate towards a vehicle purchase by municipal company Polydrastiki S.A. and remarks made by councillor Stamatis Koutouzis at the council meeting on 2 November. Their timing broadens the political agenda.
Questions over the minibus purchase
In his letter to Polydrastiki chairman and municipal councillor Michalis Kampourakis, Diakomichalis renews an earlier request for the study prepared for the purchase of a minibus with 18 passenger seats, a driver’s seat and a front companion seat.
Saying that his previous request remains unanswered, he asks which municipal engineer prepared the study, who approved it, how the companies involved in the purchase were identified and who conducted the negotiations. The letter cites a purchase price of €174,500.
The correspondence was copied to Mayor Ioannis Mastrokoukos and the media. The questions seek information about the procurement process; they do not in themselves establish wrongdoing.
A 48-hour demand for a public answer
The second letter addresses Stamatis Koutouzis over comments made during the council’s discussion of compulsory acquisition of the waste dump site.
According to Diakomichalis’s account, Koutouzis referred to a road opened during the 2019–2023 municipal term, running from the road towards Therma in the direction of Agios Savvas, and alleged that Diakomichalis had acted to benefit a particular person close to him.
Diakomichalis rejects that allegation as defamatory and offensive. He calls on Koutouzis to publicly identify the person allegedly favoured within 48 hours of receiving the letter, and signals that he will take further action.
