Kalymnos is set to host a major public event on June 19, 2026, bringing together political leaders, academics and international affairs experts to discuss maritime rights, international law and developments in the Aegean Sea. The event will feature the presentation of a new book by lawyer and international relations expert Georgios Noulas, titled “The Ambiguity of International Court Decisions on the Recognition of Exclusive Economic Zones and Continental Shelves in Island States.”
The discussion is expected to focus on highly relevant geopolitical issues, including the Aegean Sea, Kalymnos, the Imia islets and dispute-resolution mechanisms in the region, topics that continue to shape regional diplomacy and security.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Kalymnos Mayor Giannis Mastrokoukos and Migration Ministry Secretary General Spyros Stathoulis. Key speakers include Cypriot Member of the European Parliament Geadis Geadi, retired Admiral Ioannis Egkolfopoulos and author Georgios Noulas.
The event will also feature interventions from Greek MEP Freddy Beleris, former Canadian Trade Minister John Cannis, former Kalymnos Mayor Dimitris Diakomichalis and other distinguished guests. The discussion will be moderated by Deputy Mayor Kalliopi Koutouzi Vogelzang.
