Aegean Regatta 2025 Bids Farewell to the Aegean Sea from Mytilene – The Race Winners
With a splendid closing ceremony filled with love for the sea, sailing, and the Aegean, the curtain fell on the Aegean Regatta 2025 at Sappho Square in Mytilene.
All participants praised the flawless organization, the warm hospitality of the islanders at every stop, and the unparalleled beauty of the Aegean Sea.
Emmanouil Koutoulakis, Secretary General for the Aegean and Island Policy, speaking at the closing ceremony, conveyed the greetings of Deputy Minister Stefanos Gikas. He thanked the sailors who have embraced the Aegean Regatta over the years, the race committee for their admirable work, the co-organizing clubs, and the municipalities of Lemnos, Agios Efstratios, and Mytilene for their cooperation. Special thanks were also given to the local island communities for their exceptional hospitality. He emphasized the Regatta’s benefits for remote islands, the cultural exchange between crews, and the opportunity to explore island heritage. He concluded by announcing that next year’s Aegean Regatta will symbolically start from Volissos, Chios – a region recently affected by wildfires.
Mayor of Mytilene, Panagiotis Christofas, congratulated everyone who participated in the Regatta, not only the crews but also the organizers, and reaffirmed the municipality’s ongoing support for events that promote the region’s culture and beauty.
Konstantinos Kalogeropoulos, President of the Hellenic Offshore Sailing Committee, also thanked the crews and confirmed the rendezvous for next year.
