On Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., immediately after the Divine Liturgy, the annual celebration of the “Petropolemos” will take place in the courtyard of the Church of Panagia Kecharitomeni in Chora.
His Eminence our Metropolitan Paisios will attend the event and will perform a memorial service.
The festive speech of the day will be delivered by Ms. Elena Evangelia Magkou, a teacher at the 3rd Primary School of Kalymnos.
This anniversary brings to mind, 90 years later, the three-day national and religious uprising of the people of Kalymnos in April 1935, which culminated in the murder of young Manolis Kazonis, as well as the brave resistance of the people of Kalymnos and the Dodecanese against the fascist Italian occupation.
A minute of silence will be observed, followed by the National Anthem, performed by the Philharmonic Band of the Municipality of Kalymnos.

The ceremony marshal will be Mr. Vasilis Diakomichalis, an employee of the Municipality.
