Kalymnos and the entire youth of the Dodecanese have one more reason to feel proud. The Kalymnian athlete Mike Nik. Kleidomytis was crowned World Kickboxing Champion under the WKU (World Kickboxing and Karate Union) organization, winning the title at the Gladiatorum Kickbox Gala held in Trier, Germany.
Competing with heart, determination, and sportsmanship, Mike achieved an impressive knockout victory in the 4th round against a very strong opponent, rightfully claiming the top spot in the world. With the Greek flag on his chest and the passion of Kalymnos in his heart, he proved that perseverance, discipline, and faith in one’s goal lead to the highest distinctions.
As the Deputy Governor of the Regional Unit of Kalymnos, I express my heartfelt congratulations to Mike Kleidomytis, his coaches, and his family, who consistently support his journey.
This achievement honors our homeland and inspires all young people to follow their dreams with the same passion.
