On May 9, 2025, the President of DEYAK, Michalis Lelekis, together with the company’s lawyer Dimitris Kardoulias, held a press conference for all the island’s media outlets to express their satisfaction over having secured approval for the emergency management audit for the period 2019–2023, despite the obstacles they encountered.
The President stated that he had no intention for matters to escalate to this point, but after intense criticism from the Opposition, he felt it was his duty to protect the members of the Board from potential criminal liability. Mr. Kardoulias emphasized his satisfaction that the state is functioning properly and noted that the sole criterion for submitting the request for an emergency audit to the Decentralized Administration was the presence of extremely serious indications concerning the period 2019–2023.
