The first four funding calls, worth €5.1 million, are open until December 15, focusing on human rights, media pluralism and active citizenship.
Civil society organisations across Greece are gaining access to new funding opportunities through the EEA Civil Society Fund Greece, a €14.3 million programme placing particular emphasis on smaller organisations and those working at local and regional level.
According to the programme announcement, 12 open grant calls will support more than 120 projects. Some calls will award additional assessment points to organisations based outside the main urban centres, subject to each call’s specific terms, to encourage wider geographical participation.
The programme is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants. The Bodossaki Foundation, together with SolidarityNow, serves as the Fund Operator in Greece.
Its priorities include protecting and promoting democracy, the rule of law and human rights, while strengthening organisations’ capacity to address social challenges and contribute to public debate.
The first four funding calls
Applications for the first four calls, with a combined budget of €5.1 million, are open until December 15, 2026. Funding is allocated as follows:
- €800,000 for media pluralism and information integrity, supporting initiatives that promote media freedom, diverse voices and the integrity of information.
- €2 million for human rights, social justice and combating discrimination, including rapid responses to urgent challenges.
- €2.2 million in organisational grants, strengthening the institutional capacity, operational resilience and long-term sustainability of established organisations promoting democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
- €100,000 for active citizenship initiatives, helping small organisations deliver participatory and inclusive activities that encourage civic engagement.
The programme is also organising online proposal-writing workshops, enabling organisations throughout Greece to understand the calls’ requirements, prepare well-supported applications and ask questions about the submission process.
For organisations in Kalymnos and the wider Dodecanese, the calls offer an opportunity to explore funding for activities in these fields, subject to the eligibility requirements of each call.
Further details are available on the programme’s open calls page. Information and registration for the workshops can be found on the events page.
